BOLLYWOOD is the informal name given to the movies and music hailing primarily from (Mumbai - Bombay) India. Other areas of Indian Cinema have other informal names.

What makes "it" a Bollywood dance? It's a combination of dance movements from various genres - Indian or other world-genres - choreographed to music from Hindi-language films.

In order to effectively teach Bollywood Dance, an instructor should have proper training in various styles of dance - Indian Classical being foundational, folk dances of India, and other mainstream world-dances such as jazz, hip hop, modern etc are very beneficial.

Ashley Anjlien Kumar has been learning and performing a variety of South Asian dance styles not limited to Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Bhangra, Gidda, Hip Hop, Bollywood and other Indian Folk dance styles. She has choreographed guest performances for fashion shows, stage shows and pageants, and facilitates her trademarked workshop Beyond Bollywood™ for schools and festivals. Her work has been featured in short films and music videos as well. Dance was an outlet for emotional expression for Ashley, and the feedback she received from her audiences inspired her to keep going and share her passion over the years.
